The historical heritage of Henderson County and its municipalities is a valuable and important asset. By endeavoring to preserve historic districts and landmarks, Henderson County seeks: (1) to safeguard the heritage of the County and its municipalities by preserving districts and landmarks therein which embody important elements of its culture, history, architectural history, or prehistory; and (2) to promote the use and conservation of such districts and landmarks for the education, pleasure, and enrichment of the residents of the County and beyond. The Henderson County Historical Resources Commission (HRC) is established to achieve these among many other goals related to historic resources.

 Meeting Schedule

The HRC meets the third Monday of even numbered months at 3:00 PM (unless otherwise noted) in the King Street Meeting Room, in the County Administration Building, located at 100 North King Street, Hendersonville, NC.

Terms of Service

The HRC consists of eight (8) members, including four (4) representatives from participating municipalities (appointed by the municipalities). HRC members are appointed to serve three (3) year terms. The Planning Department Staff serves as the primary County staff to the Historic Resources Commission. Individuals interested in serving on the HRC may contact Deputy Clerk to the Board of Commissioners Terry Wilson (828) 697-4808) in order to obtain an application.
